Century

Century Boats Company is one of the oldest names of the boatbuilding industry in America. It was founded in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1926. It found new installations and the company moved to Manistee, Michigan in 1928. This boat manufacturer stayed there over 60 years. This company introduced an all mahogany skiff in 1933. This boat model had an outboard bracket and two bench seats. It easily became a sales success because of its modern style.The 1930s were a great phase for this company. It produced 18 different models and became a successful business.

This company built several boats for racing and fishing during the 1940s. It also had a contact to produce 3600 boats with the government for the World War II. This boat manufacturer received the Army-Navy E Citation to build high quality boats. This company also produced a line of new fishing boats because of the great demand of customers who search boats of this brand.

In the 1950s, the Century Boat Company began to manufacture fishing, skiing and pleasure cruising boats.These models soon became popular and several Hollywood films used them. This boat manufacturer introduced a 45’ motor yacht in 1964. This model was a sale success as well as the first jet-powered boat that this company built. This boat manufactured ended this decade producing fiberglass hulls.In the 1970s, the company expanded its business to other places. It purchased many tractor-trailers to haul its own products.

Glass team purchased this company in 1987 and then Yamaha Motor Corp. purchased Century in 1995. Today, this boat manufacturer is a major player in center console and walk around sport fishing market. It still manufactures the bets boat to fish.
